The community feel of Amherstburg is tough to beat, from the heritage lamp posts and street signs, to the scenic walks through manicured gardens along the Detroit River. With excellent infrastructure and focus on community safety, Amherstburg is a very appealing location for families. 

Amherstburg also offers a multitude of schooling options including Catholic, French Immersion and Public programs. The University of Windsor and St. Clair College are approximately 20 minutes away. 

For those looking to take in a Lion’s game or access big city amenities, Detroit is a 30 minute drive.

Things to Do in the Town of Amherstburg

Amherstburg is proud of it’s nearly 225-year history and maintains several historic sites for tourists and residents alike to enjoy. The Fort Malden National Historic Site is perhaps the most recognized, however the Gibson Gallery, King’s Navy Yard Park and the Bellevue House are noteworthy locations.

Amherstburg boasts two local golf courses within a ten-minute drive and the large multi-sport Libro Centre facility located right in town to meet your sporting needs. Amherstburg hosts a variety of local businesses that can cater to almost any requirement, from The Fort Fun Centre which offers laser tag, bowling, beach volleyball and much more, to the Waterfront Ice Cream store located right downtown along the Detroit river. 

Amherstburg is also along the EPIC Wine Country route and boasts several fantastic dining options with scenic views of the Detroit River sunsets.
